Flare | SSAA or SATB Chorus a cappella | 3'

Flare is constantly in motion, a chase through the forest that drives toward the last line: “big brother, I am catching up to you.” The phrase “I am running” serves as a refrain, urging the music forward in one long, rhythmic race.

Flare sets a poem by Stacy Gnall from her book of poems Heart First Into the Forest. Flare (for SSAA) was commissioned by the 32 choruses of the ACDA Women’s Choir R&S Commissioning Consortium, Iris S. Levine, National Chair.
