How it will go (2009), a quirky, 6-minute piece for string quartet, centers around the idea that, despite one’s best intentions, things never go quite the way they should.

 

How it will go was written for the Kronos Quartet while the ensemble was in residency at the University of Maryland. This recording features members of the American Contemporary Music Ensemble (ACME) performing live at Joe's Pub: Yuki Numata and Caroline Shaw, violins; Nadia Sirota, viola; and Clarice Jensen, cello.
