Perhaps

Spiritus Mundi for brass quintet was arranged from Trumbore's choral work of the

same name. The choral work was originally composed for The Golden Bridge Consort

(Suzi Digby, conductor) to premiere as a companion piece—a modern “reflection”

—of Orlando de Lassus's choral motet Timor et tremor. Inspired by text from

contemporary poet Amy Fleury, this piece demonstrates gratitude for the fruits of the

earth: "And if all flesh is grass, then let us live humbly, as grasses do. / In sympathy,

we shall shiver and bend, pressing our knees / into the earth, turning our faces to the

quavering sun."

This arrangement of Spiritus Mundi was premiered by Treasure State Brass Quintet

of Montana State University , with Sophia Hahner, trumpet; Kyle Scheerer, trumpet;

Peyton Riska, horn; William Briseño, euphonium; and Miles Taylor, tuba.
